Artist & Kundalini Yoga Teacher
In addition to her work as an interdisciplinary feminist artist and writer, Katie Cercone has been practicing yoga for eighteen years and became a certified yoga instructor in 2011 at Namaste Yoga & Tranquility Center in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Her approach to teaching incorporates Divine Feminine principles and views asanas (poses) as tools for deep transformation and mind-body-spirit balance. A regular practitioner of Kundalini yoga, her style incorporate elements of Kundalini pranayama (breath work), chanting and meditation. Katie is Reiki 1 certified and incorporates light healing touch into the mix.
Elisa Garcia de la Huerta
Artist & Ayurvedic Practitioner
In addition to her art practice, Elisa Garcia is an holistic Ayurveda practitioner. As a South American woman, she situates her work within a family lineage of "Meicas" - herbalist medicine woman connected to the garden, earth and kitchen. By integrating these roots along with Ayurveda into her art and daily life, Garcia is reclaiming the divine feminine and healing herself, her community and the Mother Earth.
Queer, Radical Feminist Collective
Go! Push Pops are a queer, transnational, radical feminist collective under the direction of Elisa Garcia de la Huerta (b. 1983 Santiago, Chile) and Katie Cercone (b. 1984 Santa Rosa, CA). The Push Pops formed in 2010 at the School of Visual Art where both Cercone and Garcia obtained their MFA in 2011. The Push Pops have shown their interactive multi-media sculptures and performances in free public art festivals and Fine Art galleries throughout the greater metropolitan area including at The Brooklyn Museum, Whitney Museum, Bronx Museum, Maryland Institute College of Art, C24 Gallery, Momenta Art, Apexart & White Box.
